FAQ

Who can join and what are boundaries?

Each chapter is organized by boundaries to help it be community-focused. Our boundaries are the cities of Springville, Mapleton, Spanish Fork, Palmyra, Lake Shore, Benjamin, and West Mountain. International MOMS Club has found that clubs serving smaller communities do better than those with large boundaries. Clubs struggle when commutes to events grow too large to be manageable for the family. If you don't live within our boundaries but would like to join MOMS Club you can go to https://momsclub.org/chapters/find-a-chapter/ to find the chapter nearest you.

What kind of activities does our chapter offer?

One remarkable attribute about a club run by its members is that the club will become what we want it to be. Most MOMS Clubs have the same foundational activity groups such as park days, babies and tots playgroups, “Empty Nesters” (activities for moms while kids are at school), mom's night outs, service projects, and family outings. We are neither required nor restricted to these groups, it is up to us!

Where will the meetups take place?

Most of our club meetups will be here within our boundaries or within a couple of miles. We will occasionally have “field trips” to museums or play places that will be further but it will not be typical.

How often am I required to attend?

You may attend as often or as little as you like depending on your needs, your kids’ desires, and your schedule. There are no requirements but we encourage you to be active. We guarantee you that the more you put into the club, the more you’ll get out of it!

What are the dues and what are they used for?

Dues are only $25 annually, which is about $2 monthly. We are a non-profit organization and any money collected will be used exclusively for our local chapter and its service projects. Annual dues cover building rental fees, International MOMS Club dues, membership pins, items for open houses and monthly meetings, and service projects. If you wish to join, but the dues are a financial hardship, please speak to a member of the board. There are options available.

Can I “gift” a membership to another mom?

Yes, and it is simple! Just write a $25 check to MOMS Club of Springville & Spanish Fork or give cash to the president and let her know who you are gifting to. We will make sure they will get a membership form.

Are there any other costs?

Some of our activities are free and some have a small cost associated with them, such as entry to a local indoor play park or a small donation to cover the costs of a craft activity. We try to keep a good balance of free and low-cost events.

Why memberships? Why not just an open group?

This answer is two-fold. The first is for practical reasons. Memberships allow for dues and dues allow us to support the club in many ways. (check the leaflet for more information on dues) Second, memberships often help create a sense of ownership and permanence. This is your club and you know the moms who will be at events.

Is this a religious moms group?

This group is NOT religious or political. We encourage moms of all beliefs, races, backgrounds, interests, and parenting styles to join us. Come as you are, this club is a judgment-free space.

My child has special needs/developmental delays. I am worried about how members will respond. Is MOMS Club special needs friendly?

MOMS Club is absolutely special needs friendly. Not all events will work for everyone (think disco bowling and sensory sensitivities) but we will try our best to be as inclusive as possible. Special needs kids need the same love, support, and sense of community as any other children, and moms of special needs kids can for sure benefit from the same.

Why is MOMS Club capitalized?

MOMS is an acronym for Moms Offering Moms Support.

How many members are currently in our club

We are a new chapter (established April 2019) and currently have between 15 and 20 members but with all the interest we have received we know we will keep growing!

I have a friend interested in learning more. What events can she attend?

We hold monthly get-togethers called “Socials” that are open to all members of the community including prospective members. At these meetings, we discuss club business, plan future events, and have fun. Sometimes they might include crafts, service projects, guest speakers, or other fun activities. Being a new club, we will have a few activities a month that are available to prospective members. These gatherings will be held at parks or other public places. You can find more information about those events on our facebook page.
